Welcome to Poachers Perch
Peaceful & Contemporary
Peacefully positioned on the bank of our private fishing pool, this contemporary styled shepherd’s hut brings the past into the future with its modern aesthetics combined with traditional features. Complete with its private wood burning hot tub is simply perfect for couples wanting to escape. The poachers perch was our way of introducing accommodation right on the water’s edge for visiting fishermen, The fishing pool is available to fish 24hrs per day “at no extra cost “to our guests, The pool has extensive stocks of Chubb Roach, carp and several other species, Carp as large as 29lbs have been caught here with average size being in the 12- 15lbs range, Chubb as large as 7lbs are regular catches, This pool is NOT open to the public so private and peaceful fishing is what you can expect.
Perfect Countryside Location
The Herefordshire countryside is perfect throughout the year, a place you can explore the Wye Valley, Offa’s Dyke and the Forest of Dean. And for cyclists somewhere you can join the National cycling trail, the country lanes, or venture into the local Forests for a slightly more challenging terrain. In summertime why not hire a canoe from the centre at Symonds Yat ”a short but beautiful drive away “go and take time to enjoy the River and many of its hotels, river bank pubs and eateries along its route, A trip to one of the many of the local market towns is a must somewhere you can pick up local produce from farmer’s shops or simply browse the independent shops, Hay-on-Wye is famed for books and the annual international literary festival.
Relax & Unwind
Outside is a spacious enclosed area that no one can see into or enter, unless you invite them, a space you can relax and unwind, either on the rattan furniture provided...or the hot tub that sits next to the hut, you can enjoy soaking after a day exploring, fishing, or simply enjoy the night skies...if the skies are clear a telescope is provided .... There is a BBQ for alfresco dining. A small round coffee morning table with 2 high contemporary styled bar stools is situated at the opposite end of the shepherd’s hut.
Poacher’s perch was built right on the water’s edge...although the perfect position for staying it meant there was no chance of placing sewerage anywhere near the fishery.
The toilet/shower room is a short few seconds from the hut...brand new and fully appointed it is a complete washing /drying/ironing room that can only be entered by poacher’s perch guests
Summer months see a car boot sale taking place on the adjoining grass field “weather permitting"... this sale is a firm. Favourite with guests at "trunkquillity treehouse" and the "fishing lodge"
ALL pets are welcome here, we DO NOT charge any extra for them, we love animals and all we ask is you DO NOT let pets jump or sleep on the beds.
Upon arrival at the location, you will take possession of your electronic gate fob, enter through the gate to be greeted by your own large gravel parking space, Large bespoke fishing themed signs easily show you are parking and accommodation position, Although the shepherds hut looks traditionally built it is far from that.... the very latest eco-friendly materials combined with a modern take on design will offer you a place that few “if any “other huts provide. The hut offers a cosy retreat that’s finished with many homely touches and everything you will need for your stay. The hut is open plan with a wood burning fire to keep you warm, a kitchen space with wooden work tops, electric oven and hob, a fridge/freezer, and built-in microwave oven. A small table and chairs for breakfast with a stunning view. The king sized bed is raised and was designed to give ample storage ,or to give your pets their own space in which to unwind .If just relaxing in bed is you’re idea of heaven a wall mount TV is at the end of the bed, a small selection of DVDs are provided but feel free to bring your own, a selection of board games and playing cards are also provided, further seating is provided in the form of a small cosy two seater sofa to give a nice perch in which to watch the logs burn or the TV ,alternatively you could just look through the huge “Juliet” styled window that overlooks the pool, night time lighting around the fishing pool means the wildlife is often more interesting than the TV anyway.
